ContactNest Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 28, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled in the ContactNest mobile application (the "App"), published by Promote Platform Group LLC ("we", "our", or "us").

The short version.

ContactNest has no ContactNest account and no ContactNest cloud service that stores your address book. It reads and edits contacts through your phone’s contact system, keeps its own organization and preferences locally, contains no advertising or analytics, and does not upload your contacts to us. You can explicitly create a ContactNest backup when you want a portable copy of supported ContactNest data.

1. What ContactNest Is

ContactNest is a contacts-management application. It can search and edit contacts, organize them into groups, review likely duplicates, keep favorites, manage a ContactNest-owned My Profile, create custom ringtones, and create or restore ContactNest backup files. On Android, it can also optionally act as the device’s default Phone app and provide compatible call-protection features.

2. Your Contacts

ContactNest asks for your device’s Contacts permission so it can display and edit contacts that your phone makes available. ContactNest does not maintain a second cloud copy of those contacts.

Depending on the contact and platform, ContactNest may display or edit:

ContactNest does not upload your contacts to a ContactNest cloud service. Edits are written through the phone’s contact system. If the contact belongs to a provider account that synchronizes, that provider may separately sync the change under its own settings and privacy policy.

3. Contact Accounts and Provider Groups

ContactNest does not ask for or store your Google, Apple, Samsung, Exchange, or other contact-account password. It works through permissions and APIs provided by the operating system.

Provider-owned groups remain provider-owned. ContactNest may display them and, where the platform permits, manage compatible memberships. Some provider or system groups are read-only. ContactNest groups are separate and can hold contacts from different contact accounts without moving or duplicating those contacts.

4. ContactNest Data Stored on Your Device

ContactNest stores app-owned information in private app storage on your device. Depending on the features you use, this can include:

ContactNest does not upload this information to a ContactNest cloud account or ContactNest sync service.

5. ContactNest Backup and Restore

When you choose Back up ContactNest, the App creates a .contactnest file containing supported ContactNest-owned data. A backup can include ContactNest groups and memberships, favorites, supported preferences and call settings, remembered video routes, and My Profile.

Your provider contacts are not copied into a ContactNest backup. ContactNest uses salted matching tokens for contact-linked data so a later restore can reconnect supported information to contacts that already exist on the destination device. Missing or ambiguous contacts are skipped rather than invented.

My Profile is different: if included, its name, phone numbers, email addresses, and profile photo are stored in the backup so the profile can be restored. Treat a .contactnest file as a personal file and protect it accordingly. The backup is created only when you choose to create it and goes only where you choose to save or share it.

On Android, ContactNest explicitly disables Android automatic app-data backup and device-to-device transfer for its internal app data. Use the ContactNest backup feature when you want a portable copy. On iOS, app data may participate in the device’s normal iCloud or computer backup according to Apple’s backup behavior and the user’s settings.

6. My Profile

My Profile is ContactNest-owned information used to represent you inside ContactNest and to recognize your own number. It is not a provider contact and ContactNest does not create a phone contact from it. My Profile can include your name, organization, job title, phone numbers, email addresses, and profile photo.

7. Photos and Custom Ringtones

When you choose a contact photo, ContactNest uses the platform photo picker or camera flow you selected and works only with the image you provide for that action. The image is saved to the contact or to My Profile as appropriate; it is not uploaded to a ContactNest cloud service.

When you choose audio for a custom ringtone, ContactNest uses that file to create the ringtone you requested. Trimming and preview are performed on the device. ContactNest does not upload the source audio or created ringtone to a ContactNest cloud service. Android may require system permission to change the phone’s default ringtone.

8. Android Phone Integration and Call History

ContactNest is a contacts app first. On Android, becoming the default Phone app is optional. ContactNest requests that role only after you choose the corresponding action, and Android shows its own system dialog. You can return the role to another Phone app at any time.

While ContactNest is the active default Phone app, it can handle incoming and in-progress calls and read the device’s system call log for the Calls tab. ContactNest checks the role before system call-log access and stops using that access when the role is lost.

The Android system call log is not copied into ContactNest’s own database or ContactNest backup. ContactNest’s local activity/history is separate and reflects actions started from ContactNest.

Android calling also uses the platform permissions and foreground/full-screen mechanisms required for a default Phone app to keep incoming and active-call controls available. These are used for calling, not advertising or tracking.

9. Call Protection

On supported Android devices, Call Protection is a separate system role from being the default Phone app. If you enable it, Android tells ContactNest about an incoming call so ContactNest can apply supported rules, such as muting or blocking a selected contact. Holding the call-screening role does not automatically make ContactNest the default Phone app, and the Phone role does not automatically grant Call Protection.

Call-protection rules are ContactNest-owned local settings. Supported rules can be included in a ContactNest backup you create. ContactNest does not upload incoming-call information to a ContactNest cloud service.

10. Sharing, Exporting, and Opening Other Apps

ContactNest can create a standard vCard (.vcf) export for use in another app. It can also hand a phone number, email address, postal address, website, or file to another app through normal platform actions. The transfer happens only when you choose it. ContactNest does not share contacts or files on its own.

After you send information to another app or service, that destination handles the information under its own terms and privacy policy.

11. Purchases and Billing

Unlock ContactNest is a one-time in-app purchase. Google Play handles the transaction on Android, and the App Store will handle it on iOS. ContactNest does not receive your card or bank details.

ContactNest asks the app store whether the store account owns the unlock and keeps a local entitlement record so the unlocked state can continue to work appropriately. Restoring a purchase asks the app store to verify ownership again.

12. Network Use and Third Parties

ContactNest does not operate a contact-sync, analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting service. Network access can still occur as part of normal platform behavior, including app-store billing or purchase restoration and provider synchronization performed by your phone or contact account.

The apps and services you explicitly choose to open, save to, or share with may receive the information you direct to them. ContactNest does not sell your information.

13. No Advertising or Analytics

ContactNest contains no advertising network, uses no advertising identifier, and includes no analytics library used to track how you use the App. ContactNest does not send crash reports or diagnostic logs to us.

14. App Lock and Device Security

App Lock uses your device’s own authentication, such as fingerprint, face authentication, PIN, password, or other device security. ContactNest receives only the success or failure result; it does not receive or store your biometric data. App Lock protects the ContactNest app interface. It does not encrypt provider contacts or change what other authorized apps can access.

15. Removing Your Data

There is no ContactNest cloud account to close and no ContactNest-hosted copy of your contacts to ask us to delete.

16. Data Security

Local ContactNest data is protected primarily by the security of your device and the operating system’s app-storage protections. Manual .contactnest and .vcf files are portable personal files; protect them wherever you save or share them.

17. Children’s Privacy

ContactNest is not directed to children under 13 and does not provide a ContactNest account or ContactNest cloud profile. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information on ContactNest servers.

18. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as ContactNest changes. When we do, we will post the updated policy at this address and revise the Effective Date above.
